In 2005, the strange British TV comedy “The Office” launched its American version, which, after a rugged start, became one of the most beloved comic play in the century. Twenty years later, Peacock introduces a new slice of this TV universe with “The Paper”.

Simple setting: Dunder Miflin was purchased from SCRANTON by a large company in Toledo, along with a variety of paper products, including toilet paper in Softee, also owns the local newspaper, The Tree Teller, where our story occurs.

“Splitsville” review: Make the comedy again again

Anyone is unfortunate enough to watch the experimental episode of the American “Office” knows that it is among the worst 30 minutes in the history of TV. The problem was that they used almost the British text for the word, and it did not work.

Soon the book learned that in the American version, Michael Scott had to be more refundable than David Brent, and Jim Halbert had to be Mane from Tim Canterbury, and Dwight was not a complete fool – because our cultures, our sensitivity and comedy were different.

Just as British cultural sensitivities differ from that American in 2005, American sensitivities for the year 2005 It differs greatly from those in 2025. The original “office” had to compensate for the geographical distance. For “paper”, the distance is measured in a timely manner.

This is evident from one of the first jokes, in which the villain, Esmerelda, the administrative editor, sends an email to the new editor -in -chief Ned, saying that he was ” #metoo’d” in an attempt to undermine him.

It is an accurate drilling when the #Metoo movement is enthusiastically, and it makes one wonder whether the reason we had to wait a long time to restart the “Office” universe is that he had to wait for the #Metoo Puritanical period.

After all, from the beginning, when Ricky Gervis and Stephen Merchant created this library comic play along the lines of documentary films, all shows were about borders and social standards. You spend most of your life with co-workers-but what is your actual relationship with them?

As in the “office”, the romantic relationships in “The Paper” are the most fun and funny width parts. Sparks immediately fly between Nid and Mary, the only person in the paper with journalistic experience, and those scenes jump from the screen because they judge anyone else, à la jim and PAM.

Likewise, the charming flirtation between Detrick and Nicole shines in a late lagging and urban way, with Nicole’s embarrassment of the attention you really want.

Another thing that stands out through the ten episodes in which Peacock decreased simultaneously to watch the Sharia is that the central joke of the original “Office” no longer operated in 2025.

David Brent and Michael Scott regularly skipped the 2005 prosthetic situations – such as when Michael apologized to Oscar for his description of the Mexican, as if he were a spectrum, or Brent told the camera how dawn Cooper was when he was appointed for the first time.

Brent and silent were not aware of the new rules groups on how to speak at the workplace. Create this comedy conflict. None of this is in the “paper” because, in 2025, everyone knows all the rules of these workplace are better than the Catholic priest who knows the Neighborhood.

I worked two decades of uncompromising companies – in real life and on TV.

Instead of misunderstanding about the etiquette of the office, the “paper” often replaces journalistic ethics, as this strange group learns from the new arrivals to collect news on their feet how to present local stories to some extent.

One aspect of this offer, which screams 2025 is the relationship between Esmerelda and NED. Ned is her president, however, this 51 -year -old woman who knows nothing about the news over and over again without shooting.

Fortunately, with the progress of the offer, Esmerelda becomes a little more humane, but we are still left in the sense that NED suffers from it mainly for fear of looking at it as a sexual bias.

Perhaps this is partly due to the unique visual tricks of “The Office”, it is a great thing to return to this universe after many years. It is somewhat similar to visiting a city that you used to live for the first time in a decade – a lot is completely the same, but with the same extent completely different.

The only character is Oscar Martinez, and there is a very fun moment when the documentary sees for the first time, with a mixture of fear and anger, and promises will not participate this time.

Nevertheless, although Oscar coincides with, returning easily to the role of the documentary, which reflects the experience of the viewer and we re -introduce this imaginary world.

The “office” may be the last of the main comic play that Americans over 30 years of age (and many of them, due to restarts). It is a cultural test. When JD Vance stole the camera in the presidential debate last year, Jim Halpert was immediately in public imagination.

The “paper” seems to have a little chance to become another cultural phenomenon. Not even on NBC, and in the broadcasting world, no program can be achieved on masses such as “The Office”.

However, watching the show seems to be a lost thing – that the weaknesses and sincere human error in the workplace should not be extinguishing crimes; Sometimes it can be just happy.

With #Metoo excesses in our cultural background mirror, the “The Paper” is free to play with the lives of its emotional and love employees. After a long time – as after Covid locks – it is good to return to the office.
