Israel closed the only crossing between the West Bank occupied by the Israeli and neighboring Jordan, which stopped more than two million Palestinians from reaching the outside world.
The Israeli Airports Authority, which supervises the ANPEB Bridge crossing, said it would be closed indefinitely from Wednesday morning “in the direction of the political leadership.” It did not provide a reason.

He says: “My plane on Saturday and I was planning to go to Amman, Jordan today,” he says. “So he is miserable.”
The Allenby Bridge is a major commercial road for goods and medical supplies to enter the West Bank. The Israeli authorities say that about 9 % of the humanitarian aid sent by the truck to Gaza is going through.
The Palestinians fear that its closure for an unspecified period is part of an Israeli response to the movements announced by the United Kingdom, France, Australia and Canada this week to recognize the state of Palestine.
