The Palestinian leader says ready to work with us for a peace plan from the two countries

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas said that he is ready to work with world leaders to implement a peace plan for Israel and the Palestinians announced by France on Monday.

Speaking via the video at the United Nations General Assembly, Abbas repeated his rejection of the role of the future rule in Hamas in Gaza and demanded that he be removed.

He also called on countries that have not yet met a Palestinian state to do so, and for the United Nations to give them full membership.

Abbas condemned the military attack of Israel in Gaza, accusing him of committing “one of the most horrific human tragedies in the twenty and twenty -first centuries.” But he said he “rejected” Hamas’s actions in its attack on Israel on October 7, 2023.

This attack, in which about 1,200 people – mostly civilians – were killed – and took 251 hostages, which led to the war in Gaza. At least 65,502 Palestinians, about half of them are women and children, have been killed by the Israeli military action in Gaza since then, according to the Hamas Ministry of Health in Gaza.

Abbas, 89, was prevented from traveling to New York to appear personally when he and 80 other Palestinian officials canceled their visas by the US State Department last month.

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio blamed them for undermining peace efforts and looking for “unilateral recognition of a Palestinian state.”

In his speech, Abbas thanked the countries that recently recognized a Palestinian state in a wave of statements that started with Canada, Australia, the United Kingdom and Portugal on Sunday.

This was followed by France, Belgium, Luxembourg, Malta, Monaco, San Marino, Andora, and Denmark.

The United States is currently opposing the recognition of Palestine, saying that this step is a reward for Hamas.

Abbas supported the peace plan announced by French President Emmanuel Macron at the Monday summit, in which the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia participated.

The plan calls for the simultaneous release of 48 hostages that remain by Hamas, with an end to Israeli military operations throughout Gaza.

This will follow a transitional administration – including the Palestinian Authority in Abbas (PA) and the exclusion of Hamas – to operate Gaza, and to pave the way for the “sovereign, independent and misleading Palestine”.

The United States or Israel did not support the plan.

Although Abbas said that he “read (Y) to work with President Donald Trump, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, France, the United Nations, and all partners to implement the peace plan … paves the way for fair peace and comprehensive regional cooperation.”

He also called for a Palestinian state to bear the “full responsibilities” of Gaza’s tape after the Israeli withdrawal and its connection to the West Bank occupied by an Israeli. He said that this will support Arab and international.

Israel has previously rejected any future role after the war of the Palestinian Authority in Gaza.

The Palestinian president also said that there will be “national efforts towards reform, including holding presidential and parliamentary elections within one year of the end of the war.”

“We want a democratic and modern state committed to international law, the rule of law, pluralism, peaceful transfer of power, and empowering women and youth.”

The last Palestinian national elections were held in 2006 and won by Hamas.

The group removed the violent factions of Abbas from Abbas – its political competitors – from Gaza the following year, leaving it in the only authority there.
