The opening of the new bridge between Windsor, Onton, and Detroit can be delayed until 2026 due to the delay in completing the entry ports on both sides of the border, according to a report issued by the S& P Global classification agency.

She said that the Gordi Hao International Bridge itself 35 days before the specified date when the report was issued in April.

But the contractor missed the deadlines for the delivery of the Canadian entry port to the Canadian Border Services Agency and did not do so after April.

“The construction contractor and the subcontractor faced a great depletion in a skilled workforce to build a large car batteries factory in the same area,” the report, by Windsor, said.

The Border Services Agency in Canada requires the possession of the building nine months before the opening of the bridge to complete its share of work.

Windsor-Detroit Bridge has not confirmed whether or not the facility was delivered.

“Since this is an international crossing with security effects of Canada and the United States, we are unable to comment on certain aspects of the border agency’s operations,” he said.

Border agencies need to own facilities months before the opening

The S&P said that the contractor was also absent from the final dates to hand over the port of entry on the American side of the border.

Customs and US border protection need to possess the facility six months before the opening of the bridge in order to make its share of work on it.

The bridge project dates back to 2012 when Canada and Michigan closed a deal at the general crossing.

But two and a half kilometers bridge faced many bumps on the road.

The owner of Ambassador Bridge asked US President Donald Trump to stop the project shortly after construction began in 2018 – after losing the court’s battle to prevent the crossing from moving forward.

But the construction continued until the epidemic was hit, when the construction said that opening the bridge is likely to be about a year late.

Last year, the project announced a revised price of $ 6.4 billion – $ 1.5 billion higher than 2018.

The Canadian government places the entire bill for the bridge and will collect all the fees until they are paid. Then they will divide them with the United States.

The period was connected last summer, and the cranes decreased earlier this summer.

But the authority of the bridge says it is too early to provide a specific opening date.

“We have an estimated 2 percent of the remaining construction work,” a spokesman said in a statement.

“As was always the case, our priorities were the safety of our workers and the quality of our infrastructure, and we will not give up either of them. In addition to our construction activities, our team focuses on installing final systems, testing and assignment.”
