“The old code will become a responsibility”: Zoho tells SRIDHAR VEMBU to developers to receive artificial intelligence coding coding

The foundations for developing modern software may erode. SRIDHAR VEMBU, the founder of Zoho, issued an explicit warning: In a world moved by AI, the huge old code bases can turn from precious assets to expensive obligations.

In a series of posts on X, Vembu said that traditional software structures are at risk because artificial intelligence tools are increasingly able to generate a new code at an unprecedented speed.

“If we make artificial intelligence make us 100x producers, why don’t we rewrite everything with the help of artificial intelligence?” He asked, he indicates that companies may soon find more efficient to start new systems rather than maintain old systems.

This rethinking comes amid the criticism of the industry that artificial intelligence is struggling by moving in the current complex code. Vembu agrees – but he sees this restriction temporary. He warned, “There was no yet, but perhaps not for a long time.”

For companies integrated on the infrastructure of the sprawling symbol, their effects are flagrant. “It has been seen in this way,” he said. “You may be required.”

He referred to tools such as Zoho Creator and Google Ai Studio, who is now able to build standard Crud applications with minimal human inputs. “I even was surprised by the quality of CRUD applications,” and also indicated in response to the user’s inquiry.

VEMBU, who recently moved away from its executive role to focus on research, expected that artificial intelligence will eventually deal with up to 90 % of programming tasks, especially the boileplate code that consumes most of the developer’s time. While the basic complexity – real innovation – still requires creativity for a person, he believes that the era of routine coding ends quickly.

Its warning to developers is unambiguous: it does not depend on high salaries or job security. “Just alive with great greatness,” quoting Antimel from Andy Group. While artificial intelligence rewrites the rules, VEMBU urges the industry to survive – or the risks become old.
