In the nearly 50 years since then curry The first movie to be shown in theaters, Hollywood has not yet tired of making it Stephen King adaptationslargely because audiences are still very keen to watch it. It’s a good thing, then, that the author is as prolific as ever after five decades of bestselling books — although this list of the eight most anticipated upcoming King projects proves that Hollywood is also fond of Re-adaptation of the King’s TalesFor the better, sometimes worst.

Note: This is not a complete list of everyone King’s amendments to the works. Osgood Perkins has a lot of interest in him after his huge success last year Long legsthis adaptation of the King’s short story (first published in 1980, but most people know it from the 1985 collection) Skeleton crew) looks similarly bold. Yes, it’s about a haunted game, but its teaser poster also has the following promise as its tagline: “Everyone dies. And it’s ridiculous. James Wan (The Sorcery, The Saw, The Malicious) It produces, adding to those terrifying intentions. Monkey It hits theaters on February 21.

Running man

When the world learned a new adaptation of Running man It was coming, there was only one thing that mattered: would it arrive in time to be released in the unimaginably distant year 2025 in which the story takes place? Unless sabotage occurs between now and November, The answer is yesand even if we weren’t fans of Arnold Schwarzenegger’s 1987 take on the King’s Tale (written as Richard Bachman), we’ll be very excited about this new version.

Directed by Edgar Wright and co-written by Edgar Wright, the screenplay was said to be closer to the novel than Schwarzenegger’s film. The cast is headed up by Glen Powell as an everyman who joins a killer game show, with a ridiculously good ensemble filled with Katie O’Brian, Josh Brolin, Lee Pace, Jaime Lawson, Emilia Jones, Michael Cera, and William H. Macy. et al. Running man It hits theaters on November 7.

The long walk

Director Francis Lawrence was recently roped in for the production Hunger Games prequels, but it’s also been linked to a different Richard Bachman-esque thriller — an adaptation of King’s 1979 novel about a group of teenage boys who embark on an organized death march that’s supposed to end with one victor (Shades of Running man, Squid game, well, Hunger Games). News of Lawrence joining the Lionsgate project broke in November 2023, months before Suzanne Collins announced her next project. Hunger Games book Sunrise on harvest (released in March 2025), and Lionsgate said it will handle its big-screen version with a target release date of 2026.

So maybe we’ll wait a little longer The long walk If Lawrence plans to add another Hunger Games Turn to his autobiography – or, if he decides he’s stumbled into a grim dystopia, hand the reins over to someone else. Either way, this guy is in the wings a lot.
