Every day this afternoon, what should the house be for 20 minutes turning into an ordeal for two hours for three Bangaluru students. Nadia, Anya and Mehr, put it in the back seat of the crowded school bus, which has since then viral, and hit a tendon with thousands of Bengalores who face the same grinding every day. Their message was simple but strong: This cannot be the new natural.

In the Ferral Pellet now, Nadia, Ayah and Mehher were seen struggling to stay sitting in the school bus seat while they were recording in their fragile home. The trio reveals that although it takes only 20 minutes to cover 14 km to school in the morning, the return trip often extends to about two hours due to the huge traffic zeroes. The bad road conditions are shown in the shake clip, and girls revealed their injury as well. “This cannot be the new natural,” they say, urging the authorities to act.

The video barely appeared a day after a frightening accident along the Panathor Balajri, where a school bus carrying 20 children is seriously inclined when the road full of individuals crashed.

Panathur’s extension, which is located near Ekya School, has always been a nightmare and is now described by the local population as “the trap of death”. With seasonal rains that increase the exacerbation of drilling across the city, concerns about road safety and traffic management only deepened.

A bad case of Bangaluru roads

Once you are welcomed in the Silicon Valley in India and the Technology Center that displays global information technology giants, Bangaluru today is struggling with the civil infrastructure that is behind its rapid urban growth. The methods that have been maintained in a bad way, insufficient drainage, extensions suffering from drilling, and endless traffic have become daily facts for millions of population.

Although it is home to some of the largest technology companies in the world and startups, the basic infrastructure of the city – from roads to public transport – is still under severe pressure, raising questions about governance, planning and sustainability of urban expansion in Bangaluru.
