On Thursday, the Congo Ministry of Health announced a new outbreak in Ebola, the sixteenth in the Central African country, after confirming a case in the southern Casai province.

“So far, the temporary report shows 28 suspects and 15 deaths, including 14 in Bulabi and one in MWEKA, as well as four health care workers,” said Samuel Roger Campaba, Minister of Health of the Congo.

He added that the death rate in the case, estimated at about 53.6 percent, showed the seriousness of the situation.

He said that the numbers were temporary and that research was continuing. The suspected cases and deaths provided symptoms such as fever, vomiting, diarrhea and bleeding.

The Ebola virus is very contagious and can be contracted through physical fluids such as vomiting, blood or semen. The disease caused by rare but severe – and is often fatal – for humans.
