The Mexican marine biologist was seriously injured in sharks off Costa Rica

The authorities said that the Mexican marine biologist was seriously injured after he was attacked by a shark while working outside the Pacific coast in Costa Rica and transferred him to a hospital in the country’s capital on Monday.

The Costa Rica Fire Department said that it saved Mauricio Huyos, 48, from the attack on Saturday and carried it on a 36 -hour trip from Cocos Island, about 340 miles from the coast. Despite the serious injuries in his head, face and arms, Hayyus arrived at the hospital in a stable condition.

“He was putting signs on the species for monitoring, and when he put a mark on one type of shark on the island, the shark turned,” said Luis Fernandez, a gunfire doctor. “It was about 4 meters long with a huge bite force – it turned and set it on his head.”

Hayyus was leading a scientific journey as part of the One Ocean Worldwide coalition, a cooperative initiative that includes the attached organizations of the Oceans, RSPORA TORTUGA and ROB Stewart Sharkwateer.

“Such incidents are very rare,” said Alex Antonio, Executive Director of Agriculture attached to social media. “Dr. Huyus is an unusual world that has devoted his career to preserve the shark, and we are very grateful to support the Cocos Island community at this very difficult time.”

Cocos Island is the Costa Rica National Park and announced that it is a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1997. It is famous for its great variety of species, especially sharks.

In 2017, and American women were killed After being subjected to a female tiger shark near the island. The diving guide was also seriously injured in the attack. The authorities said at the time that it was the first attack of its kind near the National Park.

According to the Ministry of Environment and Energy in Costa Rica, there are about 14 types of sharks – including whale sharks, hammerhead sharks and tiger sharks – which inhabit the area, making it a common place for divers.
