Australian police accused a man with an alleged burning attack on the Melbourne synagogue with worshipers inside the building, the latest in a series of incidents targeting the Jewish community in the country.

There were no injuries to 20 people inside the East Melbourne synagogue, who escaped from the fire on Friday night. Firefighters extinguished the fire in the capital of Victoria.

Australia has witnessed many anti-Semitic incidents since the beginning of the Israel-Gaza war in October 2023.

The accident came seven months after another synagogue in Melbourne, which was targeted by Muharraq.

Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albaniz late Saturday said that those responsible for the Friday attack should face the full force of the law.
