The head of the Malawi Electoral Committee warned the political parties not to declare electoral victory prematurely, saying that they should wait for the official results.

Annabel Milemanga’s warning came after the parties of the main presidential candidates, Lazaros Chairura and his predecessor Peter Matrovika, claimed that they won the reconnaissance on Tuesday.

Speaking at a press conference on Thursday, Msalimanja said that it was only the committee that was assigned to issue results.

Al -Malawi was eagerly awaiting the results, but the committee has not yet issued anything – although all the votes were almost calculated.

The committee is expected to announce the result only after all votes have been identified and verified in order to avoid the possibility of challenging the end result.

The candidate needs to win more than 50 % of the sounds, or the process is performed.

The 2019 elections marred the controversy when he canceled the highest victory court at the time, noting widespread violations.

Chakuerra, 70, won a wide margin, and pushed him to the presidency.

Mutharika, 85, hopes to restore his position while it will be an exciting political return.

Malawi also voted in the parliamentary and local elections after a campaign dominated by the worsening economic crisis, which witnessed a severe shortage of fuel and foreign currency.

The official inflation rate is approximately 30 %, with frozen chicken in a supermarket in the capital, Lilongoy, at a cost of about 20 dollars (15 pounds), in a nation in which most people live on two dollars per day or less.
