The legacy of Pope Francis

Pope Francis died after he led the Roman Catholic Church for 12 years. Pope Francis was born in Buenos Aires, and Argentina, the first appearance of Latin America, the first Jesuit and the first to take his papal name from St. Francis of Assay, a saint who devoted his life to the poor. When Francis became the Pope, he took the Roman Catholic Church in a moment of crisis. The Church was shaken by the scandals of the biblical sexual assault, the audience decreased, and a severe lack of priests and demands for a greater role for women. After decades of conservative leadership, Francis began leading the church in a new direction of inclusiveness – filling the church’s leadership with a variety of ethnic bishops who shared his approaches. His willingness to discuss the topics of taboo once inside the church was one of his largest achievements, as the doors that were closed once were closed. Initially, Francis faced criticism when he dealt with sexual assault scandals, supported the accused bishops and questioned some victims publicly. But after talking to the survivors of sexual assault, Francis adopted new rules for the contract of religious leaders, including bishops, responsibility. However, Francis did not adopt the level of transparency that many defenders hoped for. Francis’s position was less clear in LGBTQ issues. While gay marriage, he called on the priests to welcome the unconventional relationships between gay men, lesbians and unmarried husbands who lived together. Francis tried to convert the church’s concentration into global problems such as climate change, poverty and immigration. The conservative Catholics clashed with Francis because of his traditional leadership style and accused him of eliminating the teachings of the church. But his supporters will remember him about his willingness to open questions for discussion and his attempt to make a long -term change.
