Erislandy Lara (31-3-3, 19 KO) and Janebek Alimakhnoli (17-0, 12 KO) have agreed to a three-title middleweight unification bout on December 6 on PBC in Prime Video Pay-per-view at Frost Bank Center in San Antonio, Texas.
Lara vs. Alemakhnoli will be the co-feature on the Isaac “Pitbull” Cruz vs. Lamont Roach card. Jannebek, the 32-year-old IBF and WBO middleweight champion, will have both his titles on the line, and the 42-year-old Erislandi will put his WBA belt on the line.
High value PBC card
Since the event is priced at $79.99, it makes sense for PBC to stack the undercard with premium fights to incentivize fans to demand it on Amazon Video PPV.
The Lara-Janibek fight deserves to be the main event rather than the co-event, as there would be three titles instead of the interim WBC belt that Cruz holds.
Crawford’s name hangs above the section
Mike Coppinger Today I reported that the news of Lara and Janbek’s fight has been agreed upon. It’s a fight that makes sense for both champions because it increases the chances of one of them being selected by the new face of boxing, Terence Crawford, when or if he moves up to middleweight. He is expected to do so in 2026 after he exits the Victory Tour.
As for Janebek, he finally gets another chance to add another middleweight title to his collection. He has been chasing WBC champion Carlos Adams into a fight for over a year, trying to encourage him to fight him. Even though that didn’t happen, it doesn’t matter now because he made WBA champion Lara agree to unify.
Lara’s long hairstyle
Lara is coming off a 15-month layoff since defeating Danny Garcia by ninth-round stoppage on September 14, 2024. He looked good in controlling Garcia, displaying the technical skills he was known for earlier in his career when fighting the likes of Canelo Alvarez, Austin Trout, Paul Williams and Vaness Martirosyan.
South Janebek will have the strength and youth advantage over Lara. He has also been the most active fighter, having already fought earlier this year, knocking out Anauel Ngamisingo in the fifth round on April 5, 2025.
