The new US Professional League in Europe is close to a closer step as talks continue with the International Basketball Federation.

The American Commissioner in the United States said that the American Professional League talks with the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) and other entities on the process of adding a new league in Europe are continuing.

Adam Silver indicated that it may take at least a few years to turn ideas into a reality, which indicates the Los Angeles Olympics in 2028 as a possible “launch platform” for the American Professional League competition.

It is his preference for the American Professional League to work with the current league at a level, although it is still too early to determine the meaning of this exactly.

Silver said: “In both cases, we still feel that there are a huge number of disadvantaged basketball fans in Europe and that there is a strong opportunity to get another league after the American Professional League,” Silver said.

Silver said that the American Professional League Council will talk more about the following steps with European plans in July, in their meeting in Las Vegas. “We haven’t had talks immediately,” Silver said. “But there were many organizations that have advanced and said they would be interested and potential owners to work in those major markets in Europe.”
