France is calling for an immediate release of two of its citizens detained in Iran for more than three years, accusing the Islamic Republic of detention of Cecil Cole and its partner, Jacques Paris, in an arbitrary way, while preserving it in conditions similar to torture in Tehran’s security prison and prohibiting the appropriate consular protection. French President Emmanuel Macron did not rule out retaliatory measures.
