PTSB, one of the largest retail banks in Ireland, has announced a voluntary gambling bloc within the application for customers.
PTSB has Plans announced For a digital voluntary bloc for customers who want to stop any gambling card transactions. This comes after the Ireland Gambling Authority (GRAI) worked with the Irish Banking Culture Council, the Irish Banking and Payments Union, and individual banks for several months to encourage more financial institutions to take similar steps.
“We strongly welcome PTSB to the gambling bloc inside the application,” said Ann Marie Colfield, CEO of the Ireland Organizational Authority. “This represents a proactive and valuable measure of consumer protection helps reduce the risk of damage associated with gambling.”
This mass acts as a consumer protection measure for any customer who suffers from gambling damage or who may want to stop their gambling activities. Other banks in Ireland already include such a service, Ireland, AIB, EBS and Droclut.
“In PTSB, the safety and welfare of our customers is of utmost importance, and we are committed to ensuring that our customers have knowledge and confidence in making enlightened financial decisions and their future,” said Patrick Farrell, a retail banking official at PTSB. “Gambling has increasingly a societal issue that calls for the closest interest, as it can have significantly harmful effects on individuals, their families and their loved ones.
“We know from ESRI research that one in every 30 people in Ireland suffer from gambling of problems, but it is worrying that 279,000 other people show moderate evidence of it. For this reason we provided this voluntary gambling mass in the application so that it can be accessed when our customers need more than that.”
While these blocs are useful to help people take measures on their own habits, other measures included in GRAI include gambling programs and Self -exclusion programs. As an institution, Grai also calls to reduce gambling ads, with Banning the advertisement of gambling during the day is already in place In Ireland since March 2025.
In the same month, I also witnessed the initial founding of Grai, who has since spent the months of the national gambling exclusion record, with plans to operate it as soon as possible after the start of the organization’s license job.
