The Federal Grand Compliance in Virginia, USA, has officially accused the director of the former FBI, James Komei, of crimes related to his testimony to Congress.

Mr. Kumi, who has long been criticizing US President Donald Trump, was accused of lying to Congress during his testimony in September 2020 on whether he had authorized the leakage of the information classified to the media.

In response to the indictment, Mr. Kumi announced himself innocent and said that he had great confidence in the federal judicial system. ”

The indictment comes days after Trump’s call to the best law enforcement official in the country, Public Prosecutor Pam Bondi, to achieve his political opponents, including Mr. Kumi.

The investigation is led by Lindsay Halligan, the American lawyer for the Eastern Region in Virginia, who was previously Trump’s personal lawyer and took over her new role on Monday.

The accusation was appointed to Mr. Kumi – where charges are officially read before the defendant at the court – on the morning of October 9 in Alexandria, Virginia at 10:00 local time (14:00 GMT), reports of the American CBS partner in BBC.

Bondi said in a statement that the indictment “The Ministry of Justice’s commitment reflects the retaining of those who abuse the positions of power responsible for misleading the American people.”

Mr. Kumi was accused of making false and other statements to obstruct justice.

The first issue of Mr. Kumi to inform the Judicial Committee of the Senate that he had not “authorized another person at the FBI as an unknown source in news reports” regarding his talks with Trump regarding an investigation into the FBI whether Russia was interfering in the 2016 presidential elections.

The second issue claims that Mr. Kumi “sought corruption to influence it and obstruct” the investigation of the Judicial Senate Committee by making wrong statements.

The Ministry of Justice has asked the Grand jury to consider three charges against Mr. Kumi, but it could only be agreed that two of them are supported by sufficient evidence to be tried in court.

The third count was another charge to make wrong data.

The Grand Compliance is a group of citizens created by one of the plaintiffs to determine whether there is sufficient evidence to charge. Legally, it determines whether there is a possible reason for the belief that the crime has been committed.

Mr. Kumi is the first ex -director of FBI to be accused of crime, and confirms that he has not lied under the oath.

If convicted, he may face prison for up to five years.

The lawyer of Mr. Kumi, Patrick Fitzgerald, issued a short accommodation that his client denied the charges, adding: “We look forward to proving it in the courtroom.”

“My family has known years ago that there are costs to stand against Donald Trump,” Mr. Kumi said in a separate video statement.

He continued, “We will not live on our knees, and you also should not.”

The charges were brought before the expiration of the statute of limitations for a period of five years on Tuesday.

The case was recently handed over to a new public prosecutor after Eric Sibrt, the original American lawyer who supervises the case, was launched by the Trump administration. He was replaced by Mrs. Haligan.

According to shipping documents, Mr. Kumi made his annoying wrong statement to the Senate Judicial Committee “intentionally and mayors”, as Mr. Kumi had directed an unveiled person to work as an unknown source in news reports related to the FBI investigation.

This means that Mr. Kumi “sought corruption to influence the due and appropriate practice of the investigation authority” on around 30 September 2020.

In that 2020 Congress session, Mr. Kumi again confirmed his testimony for 2017 that he did not reveal or agree to reveal information about investigations into the FBI in Trump or his 2016 presidential rival.

A series of notes for Mr. Kumi, which separated his talks with Trump, was revealed to the media in 2017.

In them, Mr. Kumi wrote that Trump suggested that he be investigated in the call of the then National Security Adviser Michael Flynn with Russia.

The case is the highest accusation regulations for a public figure during the second period of Trump.

Trump has recently expressed his frustration that his general critics such as Mr. Kumi and Senator Adam Chef and New York Public Prosecutor Leticia James take a long time.

Trump said on the social truth last week.

After charges, Trump described Mr. Comey as “one of the worst humans of this country.”

“It has been very bad for our country, for a long time, and he is now at the beginning of responsibility for his crimes against our nation. Make America great again!”

When asked about Mr. Kumi hours before the indictment was not closed, Trump called him a “bad person” but he said he had no advanced knowledge of his emulation.

Lori Livinson, a former federal prosecutor and law professor at Liula Marimaont University, said it would be a very difficult issue to prosecute.

“The defendant’s word is often against another person and you will have to consider both the credibility of them,” I told BBC News.

“Even if James Comey made a mistake in matters, this does not mean that he was intentionally or intentionally lied to Congress. So proof that it will be the heart of the issue.”

Mrs. Levinson also said that this claim and Trump’s public pressure to move forward indicates that the traditional Wall of the White House and the US Department of Justice “has collapsed with this issue.”

Many Democrats condemned the charges, as the Democratic Leader Hakim Jeffrez feeds as a “disgraceful attack on the rule of law”, and “accountability” pledged to “anyone who colludes with this malicious corruption.”

Mr. Komei held the position of Director of the FBI between 2013 and 2017.

He had a loud period that included supervising the prominent investigation of the democratic candidate Hillary Clinton just weeks before the 2016 elections, which were lost to Trump.

He was expelled by Trump amid an investigation into the Russian intervention in the 2016 elections.

This is not the first investigation of the former FBI head of investigation that is being launched this year.

He was investigated by the Secret Service after he participated and then deleted the position of social media from coincidences, and revealed the numbers “8647”, which the Republicans claimed to incite violence against US President Donald Trump.

No. 86 is a colloquial term that includes its definitions of “rejection” or “to get rid of”, according to the Merriam-WebSter dictionary, which is also noted that it was recently used as the term “killing”, while Trump is the forty-seventh American president.

In July, Mr. Kumi, the daughter of Mr. Kumi, was expelled from her role as a federal prosecutor in the southern province of New York. There was no reason to remove it from the office as it worked for 10 years, according to media reports.

Earlier this month, a lawsuit was filed against the Trump administration for its dismissal.

The Ministry of Justice shot the lawyers who worked on the cases that angered the president, including the special investigation of the Prosecutor in Trump.
