The Israeli army said on Monday that five United Nations trucks carrying humanitarian assistance were allowed to enter Gaza through the Karim Shalom crossing after nearly three months of the Israeli siege. Tom Fletcher, the United Nations humanitarian president, welcomed this step, but said it was “a decrease in the ocean of what is required urgently.”
