The White House promised an increase in the number of National Guard forces and federal agents who patrol the streets of the country’s capital. Starting on Wednesday, they will patrol around the clock. This comes days after President Donald Trump announced that his administration will take over the Washington Police Department for a period of at least a month.

Trump may seek to take over more than 30 days

The mayor of the Democratic City, Morel Boser, walked a political rope. At some point, she indicated the acquisition as a “authoritarian payment”. Later, it framing the pumping as a batch of public safety, although with specific goals for success. President Trump said that the city’s crime was at emergency levels that it was only a federal intervention that could fit.

Meanwhile, Colombia Provincial leaders pointed to statistics showing a violent crime at its lowest level in 30 years after a sharp rise two years ago. However, for two days, small groups of federal officers were clear in the areas of the city. The administration says this is about to change.

According to the White House, a “much higher” number of guard members will go out on Wednesday evening. In addition, the federal agents will come out during the day and night.

Unlike other American states, Trump’s law allows the Washington police for up to 30 days. The expansion of its strength on the city for a longer period will require the approval of Congress, which may be difficult to face democratic resistance.

On Wednesday, President Trump suggested that he could seek to obtain a more extensive period of control or decide to invite Congress to exercise power on the laws of the city that his administration sees as lean on the crime.

“We will do it very quickly. But we will want extensions. I don’t want to contact a national emergency. If you have to do so, I will do it,” he said.

What happens in the streets of Washington, DC?

Hundreds of federal and city police officers patrol in the streets on Tuesday night, which led to 43 arrests, compared to about twenty the night before. However, Christina Henderson, a member of the Workers’ Council, reduced detention reports as a “group of traffic stop”. Henderson said that the administration was seeking to hide the necessity of this federal intervention.

Henderson said: “I look at this list of arrests and seems to be an ordinary Saturday night in any big city,” Henderson said.

In one of the neighborhoods, officers from the alcohol, tobacco office, firearms, explosives and the Federal Investigation Office, along with the US Park Polita, searched a car driver parked outside the legal parking area to eat abroad and get off a friend. Two blocks, customs officers and US border protection gathered in a car park before driving the car in a patrol.
