On Thursday, people familiar with Associated Press said that the European Football Authority is heading towards voting to suspend its union in Israel on the war in Gaza.

The majority of the 20 members of the UEFA executive committee will support any vote in favor of the suspension of Israeli teams from international play, two sources told Associated Press provided that his identity is not disclosed due to the sensitivity of the matter.

The move comes two weeks before the Israeli men’s men’s team resumed in the 2026 World Cup with external matches against Norway and Italy.

It is unclear whether the football body in the world will support the exclusion of Israel, given the close relations between the FIFA leader, Gianni Infantino, and President Donald Trump. The support of its administration to secure the World Cup is seen as a key to short viruses that offer a successful championship in the United States, Canada and Mexico.

The FIFA ruling council will meet in Zurich next week.
