ChatGPT is taking an important step towards becoming a full-fledged personal assistant by releasing a new feature called Tasks. This could indicate that OpenAI More agents will be released in the future.
Currently in beta, Tasks allows ChatGPT Plus, Team, and Pro users to schedule actions in advance.
For example, if someone wants to receive project reminders or daily weather updates, they can ask ChatGPT, which will inform them of the chosen date and time. Tasks can be recurring or one-time reminders.
To set up a task, users must switch to “4o with scheduled tasks” in the form chooser and write a reminder. ChatGPT can also suggest tasks from previous conversations.
Tasks works with all versions of ChatGPT and sends notifications across desktop, web, and mobile. However, users can access the task manager only on the web version of ChatGPT.
OpenAI said the trial period will help its researchers “understand how people use the tasks and improve the feature before making it available to all ChatGPT users.”
Tasks joins other Assistant-like features in ChatGPT. During the “12 Days of OpenAI” event in December, OpenAI Launched screen sharingallowing users to open ChatGPT while reading a text message and ask for their help in responding.
The first OpenAI agent?
Rumors about OpenAI launching an AI agent spread when some users discovered that ChatGPT has been providing access to scheduled tasks since December. The agent, called the operator, will be the company’s first agent.
People think that tasks can be an introduction to a client. X user @kemonismosNicknamed “Chubby,” he said,Information It seems to be correct and everything is set up for the “Operator” version, i.e. the OpenAI agent. The “Tasks” function Tibor found appears to be an important first step in setting up the client. It is questionable whether we will get a release this month or just a preview.

News catalog test On theoretical tasks

VentureBeat reached out to OpenAI about the missions and operator. The company declined to answer the question and only said that the tasks “will be an important step toward making ChatGPT a more useful companion to AI.”
OpenAI has already made its first foray into Proxy space with Swarma framework released to help coordinate AI agents.
Make ChatGPT a better assistant
If you’re like me, you probably use the Reminders app and Google Calendar more than necessary to remind yourself to text an upcoming birthday or lunch plans, or to alert you about blocking news and planned interviews.
There are many reminder, calendar, and productivity apps available for both consumers and businesses. These include Google Calendar, Outlook Calendar, Asana, Trello, and Notion. The productivity assistant space has no shortage of apps that remind individuals and teams of the tasks they need to accomplish.
OpenAI’s big play in such a crowded space is interesting, especially since most people don’t think of chatbots as scheduling assistants. But ChatGPT really simplifies the process for users to migrate their coding or writing tasks to the platform or search the web without leaving the chat interface. ChatGPT even opens the door to developers IDE is almost automatic for them.
As ChatGPT adds more actions to its platform, setting up scheduled tasks and reminders isn’t too far-fetched. This makes ChatGPT a strong competitor for many productivity and scheduling applications.
