Well, I went back. It seems as if I just finished a 17 -year journey, and now there is a new trip that begins again. As a pioneer in the English language, I liked to think about the last lines of the books I read. Like the end of Gater Gatsby: So we are hitting, boats against the current, which has been transmitted without stopping in the past.
I baffled this line as a student. But I knew when I read the words that were part of the wonderful literature.
If you are here. No, if you are one of 3.5 billion players on this planet. You are more likely to think about the meaning of the last line of your favorite video game. Because, as we all know, the game’s culture has risen to the point where it is now a collective culture.
I like how in the game the last of us, the opening scene, and the last scene like Bokends. Some of our most popular stories were in Gamesbeat about the end of Bioshock, and how to get the right end until dawn.
Our grandchildren are likely to make lines of games for Fortnite, Minecraft or Roblox. The art model changes, but the human message behind art – this is eternal.
I am back seriously here. But this stage is mine. It is Gina. It is yours. Please welcome the new Gamesbeat, do you prefer? Welcome to Gamesbeat Summit 2025. Today we are news.
Since I came to see us here in our society, we see you. You are not invisible. Your presence here reminds me of the opening line of a very good novel, the invisible man, written by Ralph Ellison.
I am invisible, simply because people refuse to see me. If you lose a job and look for an opportunity to storm the industry, we see you. We have 20 people here to courtesy of the Amir Slatat community from gaming fans and job seekers.
The beginning is a very sensitive time. Standing alone, many of you may feel that now. Unable to stop injustice, unable to ensure fairness. We at Gamesbeat are usually unable to hear our voice on corporate media.
But not today. You do not stand alone today. We are games, and we stand with you.
Today you are in the house of journalism and society. After 2.5 years of difficult times, we are here to celebrate the fact that the game industry is still standing, and we are still standing to cover our best. Today, we are here to inspire you to go forward.
Late at night, when many of you play civilization and want to go in turn, I am awake at night, and I write another story. This is because I know that if we do not cover a story, if we do not write about starting one other game, then the possibilities are not good not to write this story.
I have written more than 26,000 stories over 17 years for Venturebeat. My colleagues Mike and Rashil have written their share. This is a sign of our commitment to industry. Now we operated from Venturebeat as an independent company. All the stories of the Gamesbeat Library will live under the new Gamesbeat.
Gina Joseph, our CEO, is here to enhance our relations with our fans and partners, and to help us build this new age of Gamesbeat, as a media authority for this advanced industry. Ji Bowlus has rented us to expand our arrival with strategic partners. David Glass and Cathy Simpson here to ensure smooth events and wonderful operations. Marta Ordeig helps in our marketing. On the side of writing, we have, Mike Minoti and Rashil Cast. It is a small team, with the support of dozens of consultants and community partners – and all of you.
View many of you help and stand ready to support us. Thank you for that. We can use your help, and do what you have done 17 years ago. This means reading our stories, sharing them on social meeting, participating in our social content, reading our newsletters, participating in our events, and caring for them if you are able, and standing in the long run.
Our mission is simple. We want to be a serious publication that produces great stories and events that pick up the greatness of the game industry. Our industry has become vast and inherent in culture that you deserve the media capable of understanding and covering it in an authentic and professional way. We are here to try to do this on your behalf.
Here is what you learned for decades of telling stories. The truth is not simple. The facts do not always support the narration you want to tell, such as the time I reported that Google was buying Twitch. These are the veterans who showed the door – maybe they were victims of age. That CEO who shot him as evil? They may have been trying to save jobs. You have to hear stories from different views. You cannot hear what you want to hear, such as Pentagon or New York editors who believed that we won the Vietnam War, while their correspondents and soldiers in this field know better.
In Gamesbeat, our slogan used to follow the money. He led us to things like Metaverse, Blockchain and AI. But there is another talisman that is exactly as you say: follow the players, follow people. Once, we write about bad actors in the industry, and we appreciate this when we get support for that.
Our topic today is about returning to growth. It is very similar to last year. Only the efforts last year did not succeed. So we went back to discuss it again. It is not different from the surface of the large slide in the Matthew Ball around the world. He referred to 10 drivers who helped grow for a decade, eight initiatives that failed to continue to grow, 15 challenges the industry still faces, and 11 possible growth engines that can govern growth. Let us just hope that one of our discussions will lead to a viable path forward. I know that Adam Boys is planning to conduct one discussion here that will provide solutions to the challenges.
We have 106 speakers here. We know that we have partially varied views because 53 % of our loudspeakers come from various wallpapers and 35 % of women. I don’t know if you have noticed, but there are more women than men in Gamesbeat.
Despite our current political climate, we are proud to promote the different views necessary to reach the right answers and views. We had other gorgeous women in the gaming session that Rachel Castrad and brought us by Xolla. We have the insight prizes presented by Andrea Rene at 10:15 am today. We have the first possibility to arrive in the European Space Agency gaming board during lunch as well.
We don’t know where we will all end. Our path has not been set, and sometimes we seem like a sailor in the seas of the fate subject to the authorities that are greater than our region. This is Michael Morkuk’s novel. However, sometimes, we can put a giant in the eye, just as the epic games did in their battle with Apple. As for our direction, we may deal with the tears of fire in the media.
However, as Arya Stark said when greeting the god of death, not today. We have something that others do not have. Today, we are with friends. We have grown with friends who were in the youngest startup. You are all small once, and look for your place today. In fact, the first story on NVIDIA was written in 1996 – a time when it was one of 80 graphics chips. Jensen Huang is still a person I can talk to today, and now his company is $ 3.3 trillion.
So we are not worried, because we have 3.5 billion friends. I am grateful for your support, and the support of our team that includes Gina, David Glass, Cathy Simpson, Ji Bowlus, Mike Minotti, Marta Ordeig and Rachel Kaser. We hope you enjoy our events and our society. “This is the beginning of a beautiful friendship.”
It seems as if we are now colleagues in the same road as the Indian Islands in the game’s work. And the roads? Where are we going, we do not need ways.
