The Ecuador Constitutional Court rejected the final legal challenge against the environmental licensing of the SilvercorP Metals’ El Domo.

The El Domo project puts a precedent in Ecuador as the first in the country that conducts environmental consultations in line with the regional agreement on accessing information, public participation and justice in environmental issues in Latin America and the Caribbean.

This procedure has been confirmed by various levels of the Ecuador judicial system, and includes both the ordinary courts and the Constitutional Court.

Upon completion, the project is scheduled to provide significant social social benefits to the LAS NAVES community, with the approval of 98 % in the field of influence.

The project, which is currently being constructed, is expected to start production in 2026.

On June 5, 2024, a constitutional protection was began against the Ministry of Environment, Water and Environmental Transition, challenging the environmental licensing process and consulting the El Domo project.

The legal procedure was rejected by a local court on July 24, 2024, and the subsequent appeal was also rejected, which led to the project’s compliance with environmental advice requirements.

Prosecutors filed an extraordinary protection lawsuit on December 19, 2024, but the Constitutional Court rejected this on February 26, 2025, not to meet the constitutional acceptance criteria.

A subsequent proposal was also rejected for unanimous clarification on July 24, 2025.

Despite these legal victories, SilvercorP Metals faced opposition from the anti -mining groups that continue in illegal and destructive measures, increase safety concerns and challenge the rule of law.

However, these activities did not hinder greatly the progress of the project.

In December 2024, SilvercorP Metals Declared development plans Condor Gold project in Ecuador as an underground process after a comprehensive review of technical data and historical basic samples.

The Condor Project features a variety of gold deposits, among them the camp areas and Los Cuyes, which are the most specified mineral resources.
