The demand for gas in the European Union decreases by 7 % by 2030: Ember

A report from the Global Energy Think Tank Ember Projects of 7 % decrease in the demand for gas in the European Union by 2030, which may lead to a new gas capacity as a way that was cut off.

This contradicts the proposals to expand the ability to import LNG 54 % in the same time frame, indicating an increase in excessive dependence and financial risks of new gas investments.

The report uses the latest data from national goals to provide visions about the future of gas demand and other energy sector trends until 2030.

With the conclusion of the last presentation course for national goals last month, the analysis reflects the latest strategic directions of the European Union member states.

“The national goals send a strong indication: the European Union abandons the fossil gas forever. This is the decline in gas under progress, and the goals of 2030 show another strong fall.”

Renewable energy sources are scheduled to play an important role in the power mix in the European Union, as member states are planning to double wind and solar energy in the next five years. The growth path is placed in this renewed generation to generate two thirds of electricity in the European Union by 2030.
