The Colombian Senator and President Miguel Urby died two months after they were shot in his head in a targeted attack that shocked the South American nation.
The 39 -year -old hit three bullets – two of them in the head and one in the leg – at a campaign on June 7 in the capital, Bogota.
His wife confirmed his death on social media, and he praised “the love of my life.”
A teenager was arrested on suspicion of shooting, but the motivation behind the attack is still unclear.
Ourby’s wife, Maria Claudia Tarazona, thanked her late husband for a “life full of love” and being a “best father” for their children.
According to a statement published on Saturday by the hospital, where Urby was treated, Senator suffered from bleeding in his central nervous system and was due to surgery.
He had already had many surgeries since he first transferred to Santa Clinic in June.
His wife had asked people to pray for his recovery, and thousands of vigils and gatherings went to show their support.
