The Russian authorities said early on Sunday that two bridges collapsed in different Russian regions on the border with Ukraine, which led to the departure of trains, the killing of at least seven people and the injury of dozens.
Reuters could not confirm whether accidents in the vicinity were linked.
A collapse occurred in the Kursk region early on Sunday while the shipping train was crossing the bridge, Alexander Jenchein, Acting Governor of the region, said the Russian railway in TeleGram.
“Part of the train fell on the road below the bridge,” said Khenstein. He added that the locomotive caught fire, which was quickly extinguished. Jencin added that one of the drivers was injured in the leg, and he and the team that operates the train was transferred to a local hospital.

Russian emergency officials said that this followed a previous incident later on Saturday, in which seven people were killed and 69 were wounded when a bridge collapsed on the highway on the railway tracks, which took out a train approaching in the Bianank area.
Russian railways initially published on the Telegram messaging application that the collapse of the Bryansk Bridge was the result of “illegal intervention in the transportation process”, but the post was removed later.
The governor of Bianank Alexander Bogomaz told a telegram that 47 people were transferred to the hospital. He said that three children are among those with serious condition.

The Ministry of Emergency cases in Russia said a telegram that the efforts made to find and save the victims in the Breansk incident continued throughout the night, and that about 180 employees participated in the operation.
Among those who killed a locomotive driver, Russian government news agencies reported, cited from the paramedics.
Social media photos and videos have shown passengers trying to help others get out of the damaged Bryansk Train cars in the dark and firefighters looking for ways to reach passengers.
The Russian railway said that the train was moving from the town of Kilimovo to Moscow. Bogomaz said that he collided with the collapsed bridge in a federal highway in the Veguninski area of the Brigansk area. The province is about 100 km from the border with Ukraine.
