Your guide to what the second period of Trump means to Washington, business and the world
The CIA has benefited from a veteran secret case officer who is currently working as head of the station in the Middle East to operate his secret operations all over the world after withdrawing the previous candidate.
John Ratcliffe, Director of the CIA, chose a chairmanship of a decisive station in the Middle East country to be the deputy director of operations, according to many persons familiar with the decision.
Financial Times blocks certain details about the candidate because it is secret. People familiar with the selection said that the candidate was very popular with officers of the issue of ranks and the file.
The Deputy Director of Operations (DDO) is one of the most important positions in the CIA because the person runs the secret agency’s programs around the world and supervises the employment of spies in China, Russia and abroad. The situation is expected to become more powerful as Ratcliffe increases the agency’s concentration on spying.
In the Senate confirmation session, Ratcliffe said that the CIA “will bring together intelligence, especially human intelligence in every corner of the world, regardless of the extent of darkness or difficulty.”
In one of the examples, the CIA recently released videos in Chinese as part of an unprecedented effort online Recruitment of spies in China.
One person familiar with his views said: “Ratcliffe Laser focuses on the task of collecting foreign intelligence.”
The choice of a new DDO comes after Ratcliffe asked Ralph Goff, the veteran case official, to get out of retirement to take on this role. But his name was later pulled into the dispute. Some people said that it was withdrawn because the White House objected to its pro -Ukraine activities in retirement, but one person stressed that it has nothing to do with Ukraine.
The appointment of a new DDO is just one of the many changes in the upper part of the American Intelligence community during the era of President Donald Trump. Earlier this year, Trump opened fire General Timothy Hawg Who was the head of the National Security Agency – responsible for electronic monitoring – and also managed the electronic leadership of the American army.
Tolsi GabbardThe Director of National Intelligence, recently removed Michael Collins as head of the National Intelligence Council, who produces intelligence assessments on critical issues based on information from all over the American intelligence community.
The removal critics said that Collins, and his deputy, were removed because of their role in producing a report that undermines the allegations used by the White House to justify the sending of the alleged Venezuelan gang members to El Salvador. Gabbard’s office rejected this proposal, saying that officials of intelligence politicization were removed.
People familiar with the situation said that the appointment of the new DDO was not related to the recent controversial changes within the intelligence community. They said that the managers of the new CIA often chose a new head of operations to ensure that he is a person who could trust them given the sensitive nature of the job.
Some people speculated that Ratcliffe will replace the current deputy director of the analysis. But one person is familiar with the situation, he said he intends to keep this person, who is secret, in this role. The person said that one of the reasons for maintaining the current analysis is that he had a “great relationship” with the incoming DDO.
The CIA refused to comment.
