British police said on Friday that the former midfielder in Arsenal Thomas Barti had been accused of five charges of rape.
Partey was also charged with one charge of sexual assault, with alleged crimes between 2021-22.
Partey’s lawyer Jenny Wiltersh told the British Press Association that he “denies all the charges against him,” adding: “He is now welcoming the opportunity to finally cleanse his name.”
Partey, 32, is a free agent after the end of a wedding contract at the end of last season. He joined the Premier League in 2020 for 45.3 million pounds ($ 61.8 million) from Atletico Madrid. The police said that the investigation was opened in February 2022 when it received a report on rape. The five rape fees are related to two different women. The charge of sexual assault relates to a third woman. “Our priority still provides support for women who are progressing,” said Detective Andy Forvi of the Metropolitan police.
Barti is scheduled to appear in the Westminster Magistrate on Tuesday, August 5.
