The bishop of Winnipeg says that Pope Francis made the Catholic Church more welcoming.

Less than 24 hours after he appeared in Saint Peter’s Square on Sunday, the Vatican announced the death of Pope Francis Early Monday morning.

His 12 -year -old papal was the most advanced in generations, as he defended the blessings of marriage of the same poor sex, and he appointed women for major roles in the church.

Murray Catteen, the head of the Winypeng bishop, says Francis led the Catholic Church to become more welcome to everyone.

“He was not a hotel for the saints, but it is a hospital for guilt,” says Chletin. “This feeling of listening – we really focused on being listening people, and starting to listen to those around us.”

The 88 -year -old Pope was recently taken to the hospital due to pneumonia, but the Vatican says he died due to a stroke that led to a coma and irreversible heart failure.

Three years ago, Pope Francis made a historic apology to the original peoples in Canada for the church’s role in the residential school system. The apology was followed by a visit to Canada later that year.

In a statement, David Chartrand, president of the Manitoba Metis Federation, who has shown his “personality and integrity.”

“Despite the dangers of exposure during the Covid-19s, it has made an exceptional decision to salute and shake hands with each member of our delegation,” says Cartrand. “Every member felt his true respect and left a feeling of honor and confession.”

Chatlain, who spent many years as the head of Kewaatin-les Pas in northern Manitoba, and previously served in the Canadian Catholic Population Council, adds that the Pope’s visit means a lot to his diocese.

“The Pope was determined to come, and that he came with great humility, publicly, frankly – I thought it was a really beautiful example that really reminds us of everything we should do on this reconciliation,” said Chletin.

Chatlain will hold a memorial block for Pope Francis on Wednesday at 7:30 pm, at St. Mary’s Cathedral.

In a statement issued by X, Prime Minister WAB KINEW praised the Pope, saying: “He will be remembered because of his humility and commitment to service.

“His apology to the original peoples in Canada was because of the past’s mistakes an important step on the path of reconciliation and was feasible for many – including my family.”

The mayor of Winnibig Scott Gillingham also expanded the condolences of the mourning Catholics on the Pope.

“Pope Francis will remember his burden, existence, and gentle pastoral existence. In the world of scars because of the conflict, it was a strong voice of peace.”
