Other cast iron basins
There are quite a few cast iron makers, and although any of this difference is between our best choices above, they deserve to think if you do not like others for some reason.
Cooklife 12 inch cast iron frying pan for $ 150Cooklife cast iron with a coat of decent spices, but not great. It ended with the most corn bread stuck in the pan in all corn bread tests. However, this is a very light frying pan to maneuver. The shape is a little different, with more sloped side walls, the performance is also different – I found that this is similar to cooking with carbon steel of cast iron, but perhaps this is just me. Cooklife tells the fact that you can put this in the dishwasher, which … I do not have a dishwasher and it takes 30 seconds, tops, to wash the pan, so I don’t see much of the sale point there.
Old cast iron basins
Old cast iron basins are used by manufacturers such as GrisWold, Wagner and BirMingham Stove & Range to be the cheapest way to gain quality and cast iron. I have many Griswolds and Wagner one. It was about 20 dollars. Yes, that’s right, Ebay has destroyed the ancient market. Or save it, depending on whether you are a buyer or a seller. Whatever the case, the days when you can get a good -quality cast iron frying pan for $ 20. Unless it is useful in removing rust from the articles that were truly abused (it is not so difficult but it requires some work), the old cast iron is the price like a new high -quality frying pan. Griswold fryinger No. 8 (10 inches) on EBay It sells from 60 to 300 dollarsDepending on the case/restoration. For this price even I, a lover of old things, prefers to buy Smith.
However, if you like the idea of the old pan, the cast iron continues, and there are many good articles available on the EBY. If this is the path you want to go, then continue to monitor the cracks (irreplaceable), and depending on your stove, you may also want to make sure that there is no “swaying”. With the advance of cast iron, iron sometimes begins to retreat in the middle. This will not affect you much unless you have glass cooking. If you do this, be sure to avoid the distorted fennel that will not sit.
It should also be noted that it is cold like the old pans of cast iron, you do not know its history. The cast iron basins are used to melting lead, fishing, and other inappropriate things. It may be useful to test the old pans if you have any concerns.
How to resemble your cast iron
This may be the most controversial thing in the cast iron world. Everyone has their own way of spices, making it difficult for beginners. That is why all the articles we recommend above do not need to start. They are all in advance.
If you purchase an ancient frying pan, or if you destroy the pan by incendiary (this happens), you will need to build a few layers of spices. Let’s start by saying that there is no correct way. If you have a way to work, the wonderful comments in the comments below so that others can try them. This is what I was doing for 20 years, and it works for me:
- Wash the pan with soap and water. Dry well with a towel.
- Heat your oven to 200 degrees Fahrenheit and put the pan for 15 minutes.
- Take the pan (using hot pillows or oven glove) and cover them everywhere with CRICO. The entire pan coat, even the bottom.
- Once you get it in CRICO, wipe the entire matter with a towel. Try to stop as possible. You will not be able to get everything regardless of what you are doing, so there is a lot that remains to be counted.
- Put the pan again in the oven and raise it to 450.
- After 15 minutes, pull the pan (with gloves again) and wipe it again.
- Put it in the oven and bake for about an hour.
- Turn off the oven and let it cool completely.
- Repeat step 3 as necessary.
For a new wine frying pan, I will do this from four to five times over a few days. If you are just dealing with one of my article, I am doing this process twice, and I do it once every two years.
