He told Engida Techcrunch that he began programming in 18 years after a friend refused to help him build an electronic commerce search application, and began working on the project itself. But during his various functions, Engida says that he continued to see an issue that appeared everywhere: ratification. Each application needs to manage how users log in and reset the passwords, and sometimes officials need to deal with the permissions and roles of the user. But he found that the current tools were either very limited or very rigid – companies like Auth0, Firebase and Nextau provides managed services, but they store user data externally, determine customization, and are widely costly.

“I remember I need an organization feature. It is a very common use of most SAAS applications, but it was not available from these service providers,” Engida told Techcrunch: “So I had to build it from scratch. It took me about two weeks, and I remember thinking,” this is crazy; There should be a better way to solve this. “

Then this project canceled and started working on a TEPESCRIPT authentication framework that would allow developers to access user data through open source libraries, support common permissions-such as difference and roles-out of the box, and expand the scope of additional components.

“The idea was that you can add advanced features in two or three lines of the code,” said Engida.

Why the developers love her

For six months, he often works from his bedroom in Ethiopia, England built the first version of the library that will continue to become a better approval. When he posted it on Gaytap in September 2024, the developers saw the capabilities quickly.

Since then, Better Auth has registered more than 150,000 downloads per week, 15,000 GitHub stars, and a community of more than 6000 Discord members, and claims startup.

The Better Auth says, currently free for use, will focus on improving its basic features and launching infrastructure for paid institutions that are connected to its open source base.
