The author of the extremist Roman pop, Calin Georgisco, resumes a survey ban

Roman populist right -wing Calin Georgisco resumed the Central Electoral Office (BEC) decision in the country to prevent him from participating in the presidential elections in May.

The judges of the Constitutional Court will meet on Tuesday afternoon to discuss the appeal of Georgsco, and a final ruling must be issued by Wednesday evening.

BEC refused his candidacy on Sunday after a 10-4 vote, saying that he “does not fulfill the conditions of legitimacy”, as Georgsco “violated the commitment to defending democracy.”

Last year, the court canceled the first round of voting in November – in which Georgsco ranked first – after intelligence information revealed that Russia had participated in 800 Tijook’s accounts that support him.

In its appeal, Georgisco said, “BEC has exceeded its legal powers.” He also argued that the decision of the Constitutional Court in the November elections should not have any impact on his candidacy for the upcoming vote in May.

In a post on social media, Georgisco also described the ban as a “direct blow to the heart of democracy all over the world.”

The electoral office decision raised disturbances in Bucharest on Sunday evening. Clashes broke out between the police and the supporters of Georgisco, who gathered their thousands outside the BEC offices.

The BBC saw at least one car closed, and the windows of the neighboring bars were destroyed. At least four people were arrested. More protests are expected on Monday and outside.

Georgescu put a video on social media who thank the Roman people, but we add, “We should not generate violence or other forms of this kind compared to how last night. We are progressing with great confidence to the future of this country.”

George Simon, the ally of Georgsku and leader of the right -wing opposition coalition to unify the Romanians (AR), the second largest party in Parliament, said on Monday that Romania was “a coup.”

In a video clip on Sunday night, George Simon called for “those who committed the coup to be skin in public places for what they did … whether you like Calin Georgescu or not, he is the Roman man voted in his favor.”

The Romanian public prosecutor opened a case against Simon to incite violence, and on Monday, he returned to the comments, saying that he was using a “metaphor”.

On February 26, Georgsco was arrested to interrogate him on his way to register as a candidate in the May elections, prompting tens of thousands of Romanians to walk in the streets of Bucharest to protest.

Georgisco – a European Union critic and NATO – did not come out from last year to lead the first round two weeks ago amid allegations of Russian intervention. Since then, have seen some support from the Trump administration.

Last month, US Vice President JD Vance accused Romania of canceling the elections based on the “fake doubts” of Roman intelligence and pressure from its neighbors.
