The Ambassador of South Africa in France, Nkosinthi Emmanuel “Nathe”, Methoa, was found dead outside the Paris Hotel

The Ambassador of South Africa in France was found dead on Tuesday at the foot of the Hayat Regency Hotel, a tall tower in western Paris, Reuters news agency reported, referring to the Paris Prosecutor’s Office in Paris.

In a statement sent to CBS News, the government of South Africa confirmed that Ambassador Nkosinathi Emmanuel “Nathi” MethetWA has died, noting “deep sadness and deep regret on the sudden corridors” of the diplomat.

“The circumstances of his death are under investigation by the French authorities,” the South African Foreign Ministry said in the statement.

Methoa’s disappearance was reported by his wife on Monday evening, according to Reuters, who said she had received a disturbing text message from him before contacting the police.

Reuters cited the Prosecutor’s Office that he says MTHETHWA was staying in the twenty -second story room, where an open guaranteed window was found.

The French media, including the Le Parisien newspaper, said that investigators believe that MTHETHWA had probably killed itself.

MTHETHWA previously occupied as Minister of Police in South Africa between 2009 and 2014. During the past few weeks, a judicial investigation committee began in alleged corruption, criminality and political intervention in the country’s criminal justice system.

Two weeks ago, the boycott police commissioner in the Kwa-Zulu Natal Province, South Africa, Nanahla Makwawzi, claimed that when Metha was Minister of National Police, he interfered in an investigation into the Chief of Criminal Intelligence by asking the Inspector General to intelligence to drop all accusations against him.

In a statement, South African President Cyril Ramavusa said that MTHETHWA, “The sudden corridor” was a moment of “deep sadness” of the nation, adding that he “served our nation with various capabilities within a period of life over the time and ablution.”
