Tesla’s Cybletruck is a bust

The noise is dead. Tesla Cybletruck, which was once described as the future of electric cars, seems to be a commercial bust.

In the second quarter of 2025, Tesla 4306 has only sold an amazing 50.8 % reduction from 8,755 units that it provided during the same period last year, according to new data from Kelly Blue Book. This diving is an indication that the most truck in America may already be outside the gas.

When Cybertruck was first unveiled in November 2019, Elon Musk called “a better truck than F-150, faster than Porsche 911”. The external structure of stainless steel science fiction made the corners and future angles an immediate viral feeling, and the lightning rod for discussion. But about six years later, about the design of the surreal truck, the embarrassing size, the high prices, the late delivery to a specialized curiosity, not a blow to the market.

Cybertruck was officially launched in November 2023, after years of the schedule, with basic models Starting At $ 72235 and higher degree variables exceeding $ 100,000. Early reviews raised red flags on software defects, suitability and completion, and a disappointing scale for a car in size.

Now the numbers confirm what the previous critics and fans warn: Cybertruck does not hesitate with buyers.

Not only do you feel pain. Ford’s F-150 Lightning, another major electric pick, had an approximate quarter, as sales decreased by 26.1 % to 5,842 units, a decrease from 7902 in the second quarter of 2024. The decline indicates that enthusiasm for large expensive electric trucks may appear quickly.

On the contrary, Silverado EV from Chevrolet, which tends to a more traditional design and pricing strategy, is gaining strength. General Motors sold 3,056 Silverado EVS in a quarter, an increase of 39.2 % on an annual basis. This is still behind Tesla and Ford in raw numbers, but growth shows that there is appetite. Just perhaps not for trucks, experimental luxury.

For Tesla, the Cybertruck collapse comes at a difficult time. The company’s total sales of the United States of America decreased by 12.6 % in the second quarter, which is part of the bastion of the broader industry. But while Form 3 gained traction, the Y model remained best -selling, Cybletruck looks already like the weakest link Tesla.

Cybertruck was supposed to be a cultural event, a product of breaking all the rules and redefined what the truck could be. Instead, a case study soon has become excessive tolerance and weakness.
