Sweden accused Russia of being a significant rise in cases of disturbing the GPS signal registered on the Baltic Sea, which raised fears of flying in the region.
The Swedish Transport Agency (STA) said that reports of disturbances have risen over the past few years, but are now almost a daily event. 733 incidents so far in 2025 were recorded, up from 55 over 2023.
The agency said that the source of the intervention had been followed into Russian territory, and also affected the shipment. Other European countries have accused Russia of being behind the confusion, which Moscow denies.

In June, Sweden and five other countries in the region – Estonia, Finland, Latvia, Lithuania and Poland – raised the issue with the International Civil Aviation Organization Council (ICAO), which Russia is a member state on it.
The ICAO Council expressed “great concern about the situation and demands that Russia fulfill its international obligations and ensure that unrest is stopped.”
Nevertheless, the disturbances in the Baltic Sea region “have increased instead.”
European governments and experts regularly blame Russia, claiming such practices that are commensurate with the alleged Carmlin strategy to implant the turmoil in general and undermine European security.
