Ahead of the 2025 Super League Grand Final between Hull KR and Wigan Warriors, we asked Sky Sports Rugby League pundits for their predictions…
John Wilkin’s predictions
Who will win?
Wigan – My heart wants Hull KR, but my head knows better. Wigan have been haunted all season by last year’s glory.
They won it all in 2024, and now they come up empty in 2025. That kind of hunger makes teams dangerous.
Desperate for silverware, nothing exacerbates desperation like an empty trophy cabinet.
Who will win the Rob Burrow Award?
Jayfield. He was unlucky not to win the Man of Steel, and he will prove that point at Old Trafford on Saturday. He is a great player who gives his best when it matters most.
While others excel in matches that fade from memory, Field retains his brilliance on occasions that define careers
This performance could define his career at Wigan. Big call.
What will be the result?
Hull KR 6-10 Wigan Warriors. This won’t be a high-scoring scene. Two heavyweight teams crushing each other, exchanging blows in the trenches. Both sides will make you gain every inch.
Expect two or three scoring chances for each team, and then it will be a matter of pure defensive resolve until the final whistle. In this game the scoreboard will whisper instead of shout. A game that is measured in inches, not meters, and in seconds, not minutes.
Gina Brooks predictions
Who will win?
What a grand final we have. A repeat of last year, Hull KR v Wigan. For the second year in a row, the two teams finished first and second, but they swapped places in 2025 with KR taking the League Leaders Shield.
History is on the line for both – the Robins have won a historic treble and the Warriors have claimed three Premier League titles in a row.
I thought it would be close and it would be one of the great grand finals, but Wigan won it.
Who will win the Rob Burrow Award?
It was close in 2024, the difference is an amazing individual moment from one of France’s Bevan greats! Will we see a similar result again? In matches like this, it’s often about a big moment from a big player. Both teams have some great players.
I think the bigger the game the better he plays, so the Rob Burrow award once again goes to Bevan French.
What will be the result?
I think it will be a four-goal Wigan Warriors side.
Barry McDermott predictions
Who will win?
It will be an absolute classic. In most big games, I’d lean towards Wigan because of pedigree and experience, but the closer I get, the closer I get to Hull KR giving their best performance on the biggest stage.
It’s the right final, one against two, the two best teams all year, and it has all the makings of success. Wigan have become the gold standard again under Matty Peat: disciplined, ruthless and proud of what they stand for.
But Willie Peters has built something truly special in East Hull. He has created a culture where everyone knows their job, plays for the badge, and absolutely loves to fight.
Who will win the Rob Burrow Award?
Magic’s Mickey Lewis gets my nod. He has that charismatic confidence and touch of brilliance that lifts the fans and his teammates up.
He has matured this season, and in the biggest game of the year when things are tense and tense, he is the one who can turn things around with a little magic.
What will be the result?
Hull KR 18-12 Wigan Warriors. It will be a tough, physical match, full of those little moments that make grand finals so memorable.
The main battles on the edges and through the middle will be fierce: Brad O’Neill vs. Jez Litten, two idiots who like to control the game, and Bevan French and Harry Smith vs. Micky Lewis and Tyrone May, which will be a real chess match.
I can see it now: Elliot Minchella, arms raised, lifting the Premier League trophy to cap off an incredible season. And somewhere, both Matty Peat and Willie Pieters – two great coaches – will be proud of their players who have made their clubs, and the competition, so much better.
Sam Tomkins predictions
Who will win?
Wigan Warriors would make it three in a row and win the Grand Final.
Who will win the Rob Burrow Award?
I think the player of the match will be Jay Field and he will take home the Rob Burrow Award.
What will be the result?
They were 9-2 against Wigan in 2024, but I think they feel more comfortable this year and the result will be a 6-19 Hull KR win over Wigan Warriors.
John Wells predictions
Who will win?
I think Wigan Warriors will win again.
Who will win the Rob Burrow Award?
I think the Rob Burrow award will go to Jay Field.
What will be the result?
Six points will separate the two teams, with Hull KR beating Wigan Warriors 8-14.
Stuart Pike forecast
Who will win?
I think this is Hull KR’s year for them to achieve the treble – a feat not many have completed before. They have the League Leaders Shield and Challenge Cup and I think they will add the Grand Final to it.
Who will win the Rob Burrow Award?
Since I’m getting the win over Hull KR, I think my man of the match will be Micky Lewis. He’ll strut his stuff.
What will be the result?
I think the result will be Hull KR 17-10 Wigan Warriors.
