It’s no secret that Crystal Palace will need to sign a new centre-back in 2026, and Mark Guehi will almost certainly leave when his contract expires. They have a list of players lined up as candidates, and one of those near the top is Inter Milan star Jan Pesek.
Crystal Palace had considered making a move for Basic Over the summer, but with Guehi staying, it was decided that his arrival was not necessary – coupled with the fact that Inter Milan were not keen sellers. But the situation with the 24-year-old has now changed, and there is a good chance he could end up at Selhurst Park.
Crystal Palace are receiving good news in their pursuit of Jan Pesek

According to the Sun (Heb We are the palacePesek has made it clear that he wants to leave Inter Milan when the transfer window reopens in January. He has struggled for playing time this season, making just two appearances in all competitions (against Udinese and Slavia Prague), which is why he is now desperate to find a new club.
Basic is open to joining Crystal Palace, who had a £30m bid rejected in the summer. Bizarrely, it has been noted that Inter Milan will now accept a bid worth £22m, making a January move very attractive for last season’s FA Cup winners.
Pesek is very familiar with playing in a back three formation, having done so on numerous occasions last season when Simone Inzaghi was Inter Milan coach. As such, he would be a very suitable addition to Oliver Glasner’s squad, and with Guehi likely to leave in January, it would be easy to look for a move – provided there is enough money available to get a deal over the line.
