Later this month, Lorelai and laser eyes Simogo Studio will celebrate its 15th anniversary Some news and surprises. Perhaps the developer will port some of its previous games to more platforms. I hope we get to see the next Simogo game as well.
I do hold out hope for a sequel Sayonara Wild Heartswhich is my favorite game of all time depending on what day you ask me (other days, it is). The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the PastFor your information.) However, if Simogo announces a live concert for Music from the gameI will do my best to be there. I’ll be tuning in on October 28 to see what the studio has to offer I us in any case.
Speaking of showcases, Entalto Publishing and developer GGTech ran one of their own this week. The Out of Bounds event highlighted dozens of indie games spanning a wide range of genres.
Also, a quick reminder that the latest Steam Next Fest starts at 1pm ET on Monday, October 13th. As always, the week-long event will have plenty of demos for you to check out. It’s always worth trying a bunch of them. You never know, you might end up being one of the first few people to play the next game Balatro, Manor Lords or Deep Rock Galactic Survivor.
New releases
absolute He hit people in the back Streets of Rage 4. It’s the first original IP from Dotemu, which has found success with the likes of terrific Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge. I co-developed this game with Guard Crush Games and Supamonks. The art and animation of the latter looks absolutely divine.
You can play absolute Alone or with a friend. Since it’s a roguelite, you’ll get upgrades to enhance your character each run while gaining experience that goes towards permanent progression. There are multiple paths to explore, so the replayability factor seems strong here. Engadget’s senior correspondent, Igor Bonivasic, spent some time with him absolute This summer it was He liked it. The game received strong reviews this week as well.
absolute Out now steamand Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5. Dotemu also has another knockout, The marvel of cosmic conquestalmost.
Some reviews I read about it Goodbye sweet Carol (It’s a bit of a mixed bag) I criticized it for having clunky controls and some other quality of life issues, like getting soft locked while trying to complete puzzles. I hope Little Sewing Machine can solve these problems because the presentation of this game is great. It looks like an early 90s cartoon, with hand-drawn animation, and appears to have a decent soundtrack.
Goodbye sweet Carol It is a 2D horror platformer from publisher Maxim Entertainment where you play as a young girl trying to find her best friend who has disappeared from an orphanage. He’s out now computerAnd PS5, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox Series
Want to see another new game with a unique look that makes it stand out from the crowd? Of course you do.
Exploration and action game Another dreams – which arrived on PS5, PS VR2 and Steam this week – sees you creating an environment in a dream-like world by shooting them. Director Byun (PixelJunk Eden) and the team at Q-Games used point cloud rendering technology to create unusual yet captivating visuals. I don’t know why they felt the need to put a joker in this game though. Clowns are rotten things.
Another dreams It arrived the same day as the Q-Games Pixel gonk eden 2 Hit the PS4 and PS5 steam (It’s coming to Legendary Games Store also). This game debuted on Nintendo Switch in 2020.
Here’s another nice looking project, this time a pixel art game from Teenage Astronauts and publisher No More Robots. in Small rocket laboratoryYou will play the role of ambitious engineer Morgan, who seeks to build factories with the aim of fulfilling her family’s dream of making a rocket ship. It’s more rocket building girl than it Build a rocket boy.
This is a combination of factory builder and life simulation, and it looks rather charming. Small rocket laboratory It has landed on steam And xbox. It’s on Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass.
On the subject of pixel art games, I can’t help but mention one that came out this week from a developer based in my hometown. Cairn: Mather’s Curse It is a turn-based RPG. The film is set in the early 2000s in the Scottish Highlands and sees a young boy and his companions dealing with the effects of a cult that has placed an ancient curse on their home.
Solo developer Ross MacRitchie spent five years making it Cairn: Mather’s Curse He and his partner Christine composed the Celtic soundtrack. They say she has a lot of Scottish humour, which speaks to me. The game that Steam reviews likened firmoff on steam now.
Coming
I’m looking forward to checking it out Blackwood, Which is scheduled to arrive on Steam in the second half of 2026. It has a very impressive presentation:
By day, you run a DVD store in New York in 2012. By night, you’re a ruthless killer. Blackwood It’s a cinematic third-person shooter with ground-based melee combat, brutal takedowns, responsive gunplay, and a double life to manage.
The facial animation looks a bit rough in the trailer, but it’s raw footage and there’s plenty of time to polish it up. I hope the Bangladesh-based team AttritoM7 Productions can pull it off, otherwise this game looks quite stylish with its John Wick-style combat.
I love games with cool names, and I have a few I’ll tell you about. Action RPG Bittersweet birthday It has hand-drawn pixel art and nothing but boss battles when it comes to combat.
Bittersweet birthday — From World Eater Games and publisher Dangen Entertainment – it’s set to land steam, Gogand Humble and Itch on November 11. It will be available on consoles later.
Here’s a pinball-themed microplatformer in the mold of games like Baby steps and overcome it. It is appropriate to call it A pinball game that makes you crazy You can control it with one button.
There is no release date for this project yet from Azimuth Studios. However, a demo is available at steam now. Like a good teenage cousin, it’s fun and annoying in equal measure.
Another demo before the next festival I had the chance to check it out Don’t stop, Girlypop!a fast-paced shooter with an anti-capitalist slant. I’ve been looking forward to this ever since I’ve discovered it Late last year. Demo, with Y2K’s girlish pop aesthetics and Eternal Death/UltrakillThe gameplay does not disappoint.
I’m glad the team deleted the first word from the original name — Incolatus: Don’t stop, Girlypop! -Because the shorter version is more powerful and memorable. Funny Fintan Softworks and publisher Kwalee haven’t revealed a release date yet, but I’ll be eagerly checking out my T9 foldable phone in the meantime.
