Then he went to the Oval Office: more stacks of executive orders. He went through them one by one: “That’s good,” he said, “That’s big!”

In the space of a few hours, between his swearing-in and the inauguration, President Trump reshaped the government. There is “shock and awe” at the scale of the changes.

But wait, there’s more: He’s declared a national emergency at the border: He’s authorized the use of the military to “close the border.” He declared an energy emergency, so we can “drill, drill baby.”

This is just a few of the more than 200 orders the new president issued on the first day. There will be judicial challenges and legislative challenges: not all orders will be valid.
