The 6.0 earthquake to East Afghanistan, with early reports indicating that at least 10 people were killed and wounded 20 others, according to the sources.
Local sources of the Consar and Naghar province said about midnight local time on Monday.
The sources said that the losses were primary and that the numbers are likely to rise as the reviews continued.
The United States’ geological survey said that the 6.0 -size earthquake was concentrated on 27 km (17 miles) east of the city of Jalalabad in the Nanghaar Province. This happened at a depth of only 8 kilometers (5 miles).
Shortly after, a 1.5 -size tremor occurred near Pascalol in Nanghahar.
Kamal Haider of the island, who was reported by the city of Lahore in Pakistan, said that the impact of the earthquake was perceived in a vast area of the neighboring country as well, including the governorates of Khyber Bakhtongu and Punjab.
He said: “Reports from Konar in Afghanistan indicate that the entire villages have been eliminated, and that people are undergoing rescue and rescue operations.”
“Connar is a poor and mountainous area. The houses are very weak, built of clay and rocks. So they will not be able to withstand this particular earthquake, given the fact that this was shallow. This also happened late at night, when many people were inside their homes.”
Hyder added that reaching Kunar is difficult and that there are contacts that look at the moment.
Meanwhile, experts say that the affected area is located in an area vulnerable to large earthquakes.
“It is a very active area at the intersection of Indian and packed tectonic paintings, and the Indian painting is moving north and sliding in the past parts of Eurasia,” said Chris Kilo, a pride professor at the Earth College of Planetary Sciences, at Curtin University in Western Australia.
He said that “it also has a high density of the population and a very mountainous area,” which means that the earthquakes there often also lead to landslides.
He added: “Not only the buildings that will be shaken and become unstable, but the hills will shake and become unstable, and this leads to ground collapse.”
In October 2023, the Taliban administration said an earthquake in the West Hirat County in Afghanistan killed at least 2,400 people.
