French President Emmanuel Macron said on Thursday that historical injustice was imposed on Haiti when he was forced to pay a tremendous compensation for France for his independence 200 years ago. Macron also announced the establishment of a joint French historical committee of the Haitian “to examine our common past” and evaluate relations, but it did not directly address Haiti’s long -term demands for compensation.
