South Korean investigators ask the acting president to clear the way for the arrest of Yoon-Watani

South Korea Investigators asked the country’s interim president again on Saturday to order the presidential security service to comply with an arrest warrant for the ousted president. Yoon Suk Yeol.

On Friday, the security service, along with military forces, prevented prosecutors from arresting Yoon Suk-yeol in a six-hour standoff inside Yoon’s compound. Investigators obtained an arrest warrant for Yoon over his brief declaration of martial law last month.

The Senior Officials Corruption Investigation Bureau, which is investigating the case, said on Saturday that it had again asked Acting President Choe Sang-mok, the country’s finance minister, to order the Presidential Security Service to cooperate with the arrest warrant.

A spokesman for the Ministry of Finance declined to comment.

Police asked Presidential Security Chief Park Chung-jun to come in for questioning on Tuesday, Yonhap News Agency reported.

Yoon’s military declaration on December 3 caught South Korea by surprise and led to the issuance of the first arrest warrant for a sitting president.
