South Africa will begin their campaign in the fourth edition of the World Test Championship with the upcoming two-match Test series against Pakistan.

The visiting team will be without their main captain, Themba Bavuma, and will be captained by Aiden Markram.

Africa have named a relatively young team that does not have a great deal of experience when it comes to playing Test matches in Pakistan.

One of the biggest strengths of the Proteas’ lead in the Test series against Pakistan is that the team has a deep batting line-up, which extends to No. 11, with players like Senoran Muthusamy, Kagiso Rabada able to handle themselves.

The Proteas will be relying on their spinners to have a good outing in the first match of the series, as conditions are expected to be in their favor in Lahore.

South Africa are expected to go into the match with at least two specialist spinners in the form of Prenilan Subrain and Senoran Muthusamy, with Keshav Maharaj joining the squad for the second Test.

As far as the Proteas’ fast bowling department is concerned, it will see the return of Kagiso Rabada and Marko Janssen, both of whom have not played a Test since the World Test Championship final earlier this year.

Along with the duo, the team will also be able to utilize the services of fast bowler Jan Mulder, who has been in good form with the bat recently and can also contribute impressively with the ball.
