Somalia prohibits the Taiwanese travelers, citing the “one China” policy, the ministry says

Taiwan condemned Somalia to ban travelers with Taiwanese passports from entering or crossing across the country of East Africa.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Taiwan said that the ban is valid on Wednesday after an order issued by the Somali aviation authorities last week.

Somalia has not yet commented on the embargo that comes in the role of Taiwan, a self -ruling island that China is demanding, which strengthens relations with Somalland, which separated from Somalia 34 years ago, but it is still often unrecognized internationally.

In 2020, Somalland and Taiwan set up embassies in the capitals of each other, angered China and Somalia.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Taiwan said in a statement late on Tuesday that the Civil Aviation Authority in Somalia issued a notice to airlines, saying that the Taiwanese passports “will not be valid to enter the Federal Republic of Somalia or cross through the Somali Federal Republic” as of April 30.

“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has strongly protested the Somalia measures that were taken under the incitement of China to restrict the freedom of travel and the safety of the Taiwanese citizens and demanded the Somali government to cancel the notice immediately,” the ministry said.

Somalia’s “misfortune” of United Nations Resolution 2758 has condemned by linking it to the “One China” principle.

The Taiwanese Ministry urged to travel to Somalia or Somalia for its safety before Somalia reflects the ban, according to the Taiwanese media.

China said it is “highly estimated”, describing it as a “legal measure” that “reflects the commitment of Somalia in the Chinese principle.”

Somalland, which was not recognized by any other sovereign country, announced its unilateral independence from the rest of Somalia in 1991, after the collapse of the dictatorial regime in Somalia led by the late General Mohamed Siad Bar.

Somalia also held regular elections, while many parts of Somalia are under the control of the militant group of youth, which are linked to the base.

Somalland sees Somalland as part of its territory and condemned Ethiopia to distribute a deal with the Somalia authorities to rent one of its ports.
