Skeleton Crew Episode 8 brings back a powerful Star Wars rebel ship

“Andor” may be the tonal opposite of “Skeleton Crew”, An all-ages show featuring kids on a fantastic adventure that’s a far cry from Tony Gilroy’s gritty political thrillers, but both shows have something in common: they both enjoy being independent. Sure, both shows have major consequences for the universe as a whole — like the start of the Rebellion and the discovery of an ancient mint — but for the most part, the series doesn’t care to reference or bring up other “Star Wars” projects. However, “Skeleton Crew” has some deep connections to lore. There’s a reference to an old comic strip of pirates, and also the fact that one of the many aliases used by Jude Law’s character is A long history in the “Star Wars” canon of mythology.. This is a show that loves “Star Wars” but isn’t bothered by it, which makes it a refreshing watch compared to other recent shows set in a galaxy far, far away.

In some ways, “Skeleton Crew” is the purest “Star Wars” experience in years, one that hits at the heart of the franchise by being a true space adventure. Ultimately, there are many questions about how the story will impact the larger world, but what matters is that our characters return home after their long and dangerous journey.

But in the case of “Skeleton Crew,” going home was just part of it, because at the end of the first season, the kids also had to defend their home from invading pirates. Fortunately, they got some help from the real good guys – the New Republic. Not only did we see a group of X-Wings come to save the day, but they also brought along two powerful ships from Star Wars: Rebels, B-wings.

At the end of the episode, the New Republic pirates answer Attin’s call for help and easily overpower and destroy the pirates. Although we’ve seen badass X-wings before, this was different because of the B-wings. You see, the B-wing (also known as the A/SF-01 B-wing starfighter) has a special quad laser beam from each of the wing’s four points that combine into a focus beam to create a larger, more powerful laser beam that can even shoot down a Star Destroyer. It was so powerful, though, that every time it was used, it burned out the fighter’s avionics.

The B-Wings appear in “Star Wars Rebels,” where they become the primary fighters of the Phoenix Squadron along with the A-Wings. Sure, it’s a somewhat cartoonish ship, but it works perfectly in animation, and looks great in live action as well. Fortunately, “Skeleton Crew” resists the urge to bring characters from the anime into live-action (unlike the rest of the MandoVerse), but this isn’t the first time something from the anime has been referenced in “Skeleton Crew.” After all, the show went on The “Clone Wars” tradition of having planets torn apart by war is coded in French. As for the B-Wings, let’s hope this isn’t the last time we see those cool lasers on screen again.
