Skeleton Crew Episode 7 Do you revere villains from mythology lore?

“Star Wars: Skeleton Crew” is a love letter to its film seriesAnd the Disney+ series is full of references to previous stories set in a galaxy far, far away. from Dropping ‘Star Wars: The Clone Wars’ Easter eggs. until Bringing back the classic “Star Wars” swear words.Creators Christopher Ford and John Watts are clearly enamored with the lore and history of the property. This trend continues in Episode 7, “We’re Gonna Get In A Lot of Trouble”, which contains a subtle reference to some pirates from the Expanded Universe also known as Star Wars Legends.

In the episode, Brutus (Fred Tatasciore) and Jude-Na-Nawood (Jude Law) set out to find Aten so they can loot the planet’s hidden treasure. They eventually find a planet that the Protoss crew believes is their destination and send Gleb (Jacob Rowanhouse) to investigate a disdainful fighter. It doesn’t end well for him.

However, before embarking on his mission, the pirate says “Ravager One is ready”, which is reminiscent of a gang known as the Ravagers. The Legends’ villains were based on the planet Rishi before the Galactic Civil War, and it appears the ‘Skeleton Crew’ have now surreptitiously brought them into the Disney-era ‘Star Wars’ canon – but who are they, and what’s their deal?

‘Star Wars: Skeleton Crew’ has already praised ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ and “Treasure Planet,” which shows that the series is as much indebted to swashbuckling adventures and other Disney works as it is to everything that came before in a galaxy far, far away. What’s more, thanks to Jod Na Nawood and Brutus, “Skeleton Crew” furthers pirate lore with its original creations. However, the aforementioned scene in Episode 7 takes a moment to pay homage to the galaxy’s baddest thieves from yesteryear.

The Ravagers first appeared in the video game “Star Wars: The Old Republic: Shadow of Revan,” and let’s just say they have a bad reputation. The crew leader was originally a pirate named Rogar, but was overthrown by his lieutenant Kuratani because what’s a pirate without a mutiny, right? The Ravagers are also known for happily killing people, which makes Jude’s poor treatment of the children in the “Skeleton Crew” look like a daycare center by comparison.

As of this writing, it is not known whether Glerb and his colleagues are directly linked to the Ravagers. “Skeleton Crew” is set during the New Republic era, so perhaps the Ravagers were before their time. However, the show’s pirates could have family ties to the Ravagers, or perhaps Glerb just wanted to pay homage to a legendary group. Either way, Glerb’s exact name-drop indicates that the Ravagers are well-known in this timeline, and are no longer the forgotten villains of Legends continuity that they once were.
