In the latest episode of Shark Tank India Season 4, YouTuber Gaurav Taneja appeared as a shooter with his business partner in his fitness brand BeastLife. The fitness brand sells a variety of products such as easy-to-digest protein supplements, creatine monohydrate, and energy-boosting energy boosting supplements.

During the presentation, they claimed that the brand quickly attracted attention, clocking sales worth Rs 1 crore within just an hour of launching its website. Next, SUGAR Cosmetics CEO Vineeta Singh asked them: “You are earning Rs 1 crore per hour, so, what are you doing here?”

During the show, Taneja and his business partner talked about their subscribers and followers on social media. Later, Anupam Mittal, founder of Shaadi.com, asked Taneja about his unique YouTubers.

In response, Gaurav replied that he is not well versed in social media numbers since it is focused on business numbers. Later, Mittal says: “You are a good influencer but a bad entrepreneur so far. I’m sorry but you can’t outsource entrepreneurship.”

Taneja sought INR 1 crore for 1 per cent equity in order to expand his easily digestible protein supplements business. Due to his inability to answer simple questions, Taneja did not get any deal on the show.

Needless to say, the pitch went viral on social media. Users were happy that the sharks did not offer Taneja the investment and described the offer as “brutal”.

“I couldn’t have been happier to see that sharks have a backbone,” one user commented.

“It was so satisfying to see his ego get smashed. The sharks were honest and brutal with him (sic),” another user said.

A third user wrote: “Anupam ne Sahi class lagani shuru ki (sic).” A fourth user wrote: “Ab Influencer wala ego leke Shark Tank jayega toh Business k suggestions kaise positively legit (sic).”

“The last 5 minutes have been brutal,” one user said.

Another user stated, “Vineeta showed him that whatever sale he made, he was able to achieve it because of his followers and he has no future plan to compete with the giants in the same market.”
