Seoul concludes the US talks to release the South Koreans detained at Hyundai Raid

The South Korean government says it has concluded talks with the United States to release its citizens detained in a huge migration raid at the Hyundai factory in Georgia.

The Chief of Staff of South Korea said that a rented plane will be sent to bring the detainees to the home if the administration’s procedures are completed.

Kang Hoon Sick said the authorities were trying to improve the visa system to prevent such incidents in the future.

US officials have detained 475 people – more than 300 of them are South Korean citizens – who said illegally working in the battery facility, one of the largest foreign investment projects in the state.

The White House defended the process, and refused to fears that the raid could deter foreign investment.

“They were illegal and ice (the enforcement of migration and customs) doing its work,” President Donald Trump said in the wake of the raids on Friday.

The video released by Ice Asian workers was killed in front of a building, with some yellow jackets with names such as “Hyundai” and “LG CNS”.

“People are not allowed for short -term or recreational visas to work in the United States,” Ace said, adding that the raid was necessary to protect American jobs.

“This operation sends a clear message that those who take advantage of the system and undermine the workforce will be held accountable,” said Stephen Sherrank, the private agent in the statement on Saturday.

South Korea, a close American ally, has pledged tens of billions of dollars in investing in American manufacturing, partly to compensate for definitions.

The timing of the raid, as the two governments participated in sensitive trade talks, sparked anxiety in Seoul.

Trump has actively encouraged significant investments from other countries while tightening visa assignments for foreign companies.

Many of the arrested LG employees were on commercial trips with different visas or under the visa waiver program.

The company said it is suspending most of the commercial flights to the United States and directing employees on a mission in the United States to return home immediately.

The South Korean media has been widely described as a “shock”, with the Dong-A Ilbo newspaper that it could have “a chilling effect on our business activities in the United States.”

The factory, which manufactures new electric cars, was described by the Republican Governor in Georgia as the largest economic development project in the state’s history, with a need of 1,200 people.

The workers detained at the ICE facility are held in Volkson, Georgia.

LG Energy Solution said 47 of its employees and about 250 contractors for the joint venture factory were arrested.
