Republican Senator Johnny Ernest, from Iowa, will not be nominated for his re -election in the middle of next year, and three sources confirm to Fox News.
Ernest, 55, who was first elected to the Senate in 2014, is expected to be issued an official advertisement next week.
Ernst, a retired army reserve and the National Guard officer in Iowa, who served in the Iraq war, had been wrestling for months if he would be nominated for his re -election in 2026.

Iowa was one day the highest battle country achieved by former President Barack Obama in his victories in the White House 2008 and 2012. But the state turned to the right in the last election sessions, as President Donald Trump carried the country with eight points in 2020 and 13 points last November.
Republicans are currently occupying both the Senate in the United States – Ernst and Senator Chuck Grassley for a long time – and all four regions of Congress in Iowa, as well as all offices at the state level with the exception of the state auditor, in which Democrat Rob Sand, who is running for the ruler next year.
But Democrats in Iowa are activated after two seats in the Senate in the state of the Republican Party in special elections so far this year.
