Samsung’s 2025 OLED TVs reduce glare, and they probably won’t cut the price

At CES 2025, the world’s most popular TV maker unveiled its latest range of displays. The order of the day is “Glare Free”.

In my testing, Samsung’s 2024 reflection-reducing screen technology allowed… S95D OLED TV To beat out its long-time rival LG is the best TV in terms of picture quality. The S95D’s matte screen did a great job of taming overhead lights and other reflections to improve the accuracy of a bright room, and although it sacrificed some contrast, I thought it was worth it.

In 2025, Samsung will move towards matte by adding a glare-free finish to its Neo QLED TVs as well as its top OLED model of 2025. The bad news? The company decided to keep the standard glossy screen on its other less expensive OLED TVs for 2025, the S85F and S90F. Although Samsung hasn’t announced pricing yet, I expect the new S95F’s glare-free OLED screen to cost about the same as the S95D’s camera.

Samsung says its glare-reducing technology is better than last year, and has added an 83-inch size and a 165Hz refresh rate (which will only be useful for PC gamers, but otherwise looks similar to last year).

OLED (S85F, S90F, S95F)

  • Glare-free (matte) screen, S95F only
  • 165 Hz refresh rate
  • 42 and 48 inches (S90F only), 55, 65, 77 and 83 inches

The non-OLED models, called Neo QLED from Samsung, use Mini-LED technology and come in both 8 k And 4K varieties. As always, I don’t expect it to match the picture quality of OLED sets, but it will likely be brighter and (in the non-8K series) less expensive overall. The 70F is an edge-lit Mini-LED, the first I’ve seen, so I wouldn’t expect it to match the image quality of high-end direct LED models. New for 2025 are three-digit sizes including 115- and 100-inch models.

Another improvement for this year is the addition of the Samsung Art Store to all of the Neo QLED TVs mentioned above. This feature, which was previously only available on Samsung’s The Frame TVs, allows you to display free and purchased artwork on your TV screen. Samsung is also adding a host of AI-powered features to its 2025 TVs this year, as well as an AI button on the remote.
